Ozempic 1mg

(4 doses/needles take one dose a week )

Ozempic (also known as semaglutide) is an injectable drug used to treat type 2 diabetees it

is used along with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar/glucose levels in adults

It is used to reduce the risk of severe cardiovascular events in adults with heart disease

problems. e.g heart attack,stroke and death.

Ozempic 1mg

Take only once weekly for at least 4 weeks if extra blood sugar/glucose control is needed

This pen only delivers 1mg

A1c(blood test that measures your average blood sugar levels over 3months)

When to take

  1. Only take Ozempic once a week and on the same day every week as prescribed by your doctor
  2. You can take Ozempic with or without your food
  3. You may change the day of the week you use Ozempic as long as your last dose was taken 2 or more days before original dose.
  4. If you missed a dose take the missed dose as soon as possible within 5 days after missed dose
  5. If more than 5 days passed, skip the missed dose and take the next dose on your scheduled day once a week.

Preparation

Wash you hands with water and soap

Take a new needle and push onto pen and turn to tighten

Always use a new needle , never share needles with anyone and don’t use a bent needle or damaged needle

Selecting Correct Dosage

When using pen for first time check the flow by turning the selector to the flow check symbol .

Press and hold until a drop appears at the tip of the needle

Only check ozempic flow on first time use

Turn the dose selector until the dose counters shows correct dosage prescribed

Injecting

1)Insert needle in your skin make sure you can see the dosage counter

2)press the dose button until dose counter reads 0.contine to press the dose button and keep needle in the skin

3) count 6 seconds while pressing the dose button. If you remove the needle early, a stream of Ozempic will come from the tip. If this occurs the full dose has not been delivered effectively

4)after completing the injection throw away the needle properly put the cap back on the pen and store properly

Where to inject Ozempic

Ozempic is injected beneath the skin of abdomen(stomach area)thigh or upper arm

(Please do not inject into a muscle or a vein)

You should change the site of the injection for each use of injection

When choosing  the site of the injection wipe the skin with alcohol swab to let injection site dry before injecting dose.

Ozempic Side Effects

Thyroid tumours e.g. cancer

Inform doctor if you get any lump or swelling in your neck, hoarseness, trouble swallowing and shortness of breath(symptoms of thyroid cancer)

Inflammation in pancreas .stop using ozempic call doctor immediately  if you feel severe pain in the abdomen and experience vomiting

Changes in your vision

low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). Your risk for getting low blood sugar may be higher if you use Ozempic  with another medicine that can cause low blood sugar.

 Signs and symptoms of low blood sugar: dizziness or light-headedness, blurred vision, anxiety, irritability or mood changes, sweating, slurred speech, hunger, confusion or drowsiness, shakiness, weakness, headache and  fast heartbeat

Kidney problems( people who have   diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting and dehydration could cause kidney problems to get worse. It is important for you to drink fluids to help reduce your chance of dehydration.

Gallbladder problems have happened in some people who take Ozempic. Tell your doctor right away if you get symptoms which may include: pain in your upper stomach (abdomen), fever, yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), or clay-colored stools.

Do not use Ozempic if member of your family have MTC or if you have an endocrine condition called Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2.

Don’t use Ozempic if you are allergic to ingredients of  semaglutide (active ingredient)

(symptoms difficulty breathing, swelling on face, lips tongue or throat ,dizzy and rapid heartbeat)

Before taking Ozempic

Tell your doctor prior to taking Ozempic if you have problems with kidney or your pancreas
